Technology and Digital Lead Trustee

Location: London (Streatham) – a mixture of online and in-person meetings
Remuneration: Voluntary role (reasonable expenses reimbursed)
Time commitment: Approximately 4 Board meetings per year, committee meetings, plus an annual away day and occasional site visits
For more than 160 years, British Home has provided specialist care and neurorehabilitation for adults living with complex neurological conditions, including acquired brain injury, stroke, and progressive neurological diseases.
British Home is entering an important period of development, having expanded its clinical services with a Level 2b intensive neurorehabilitation service and specialist tracheostomy care provision, supporting its ambition to become a national leader in neurological rehabilitation and therapeutic care.
As the charity continues to evolve, the Board is seeking to appoint a Technology and Digital Lead Trustee who can help guide the organisation’s approach to digital innovation, data, and technology-enabled care.
The Role
Technology is increasingly central to the delivery of safe, effective and accessible healthcare services. For British Home, digital capability offers significant opportunities to enhance clinical outcomes, strengthen operational efficiency, support staff and improve the experience of residents and patients.
As Technology and Digital Lead Trustee, you will provide strategic guidance to the Board and executive team on digital transformation, technology governance, and the responsible use of data.
You will help ensure that British Home is well positioned to harness technology to enhance care delivery, strengthen organisational resilience, and respond to the evolving healthcare and regulatory landscape.
This is an opportunity for an experienced digital leader to contribute their expertise at Board level while supporting a charity delivering life-changing services.
Person Specification
The Board is seeking an individual with senior experience in digital strategy, technology leadership, or digital transformation.
Essential
- Senior experience in digital strategy, technology transformation, or IT governance driving organisational improvement.
- Understanding of how digital tools and data can improve accessibility, inclusion, and service delivery, particularly for disabled people.
- Experience overseeing cybersecurity, data protection, and digital risk management at a strategic or governance level.
- The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear strategic insight for non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience working within or alongside healthcare, digital health, or assistive technology environments.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, digital health platforms, and accessibility technologies, alongside an appreciation of their ethical implications.
About You
You will be a strategic thinker with strong digital and technology leadership experience, able to contribute insight and constructive challenge at Board level.
You will also share British Home’s commitment to improving the lives of people living with complex neurological conditions and to strengthening the organisation's long-term sustainability and impact.
