Location: London / Hybrid (approximately three days per week in the office)
Giving Back Recruitment is partnering with an established, purpose-led organisation seeking an exceptional Interim Director of Governance Transformation & Risk to lead a significant programme of organisational change.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and modernise governance at a pivotal time, strengthening organisational oversight, risk management and decision-making frameworks.
Working closely with the Chief Executive, Chair, Board and Executive Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership, trusted advice and practical solutions to complex governance challenges, delivering improvements that will have a lasting impact.
The Opportunity
You will lead an ambitious programme of governance transformation, bringing clarity, confidence and effective oversight to a complex stakeholder and regulatory environment.
Combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, you will strengthen governance arrangements, navigate sensitive issues and ensure governance enables organisational effectiveness rather than creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Over the 12-month appointment, your focus will be on delivering key outcomes:
A Stronger, More Effective Governance Framework
- Review and modernise governance structures, processes and delegated authorities, reducing unnecessary complexity whilst strengthening accountability and effective decision-making.
Robust Governance and Regulatory Compliance
- Strengthen governance documentation, policies and regulatory compliance arrangements, ensuring frameworks are clear, proportionate and resilient to increasing scrutiny.
Effective Management of Complex Governance Challenges
- Establish clear, consistent and proportionate approaches to managing sensitive governance and stakeholder matters, improving organisational responsiveness and reducing operational disruption.
Stronger Risk Management and Assurance
- Enhance organisational risk management, reporting and assurance arrangements, providing the Board and Executive Leadership Team with greater visibility and confidence in the management of organisational risks.
About You
We are seeking an accomplished governance leader with the expertise, credibility and confidence to operate at Board and Executive level.
You will bring:
- Significant senior-level experience in governance transformation, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Experience advising and influencing Boards, Chairs, Trustees and Executive Leadership Teams.
- Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, organisational accountability and regulatory requirements.
- Experience navigating complex stakeholder relationships and sensitive governance matters.
- Excellent judgement, political awareness and the confidence to influence and challenge constructively.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to simplify complexity and deliver meaningful improvements.
Experience within charities, membership organisations, professional bodies or similarly complex, regulated environments would be particularly relevant.
